What Is Photography and What I Need to Know (Part 1)

Photography can be describe in many ways. Depending on a person but more accurately is the art of capturing and processing a photo.

To me, photography is not just an art of taking picture and print it out. It's a way to tell a story. A way to interact with people through emotions, colors, subjects and through the photographer's point of view.

How can we make this elements alive? To me, we have to imagine and think fast and creatively when we are holding our camera(s). We dont need expensive cameras to take nice pictures. What we need at first is to learn our basics. First thing that you can learn is about "compositions". What you want to capture, what is the mood and why you want to capture that specific moment. Understand and ask yourself why.

The next important piece is your "rule of thirds". The Rule of Thirds or some might call it The Golden Grid, is a rule to have a nice quality picture. The rule is, your subject must occupy 1/3 of the whole entire picture, or must be at the corner/center 1/3 of the picture.

Next is your "Subject". Before snapping, identify your subject. Focus on the things that u want people to focus on. For example, a car. If your subject is a car, apply the rule of third and focus on the car. Anything apart from the car does not matter to you anymore. With this method, people will understand what you are trying to show and tell.

That is all for today. Till we meet again next week for another basic photography lessons. Have great time practicing and remember a picture means a thousand word. Good luck! :)
